Story 24 (Step 6)

"Story 24", Acrylic On Canvas, 122cm x 92cm, Year: 2011.

Now, having completed the right hand, I am quite happy about the skin tone and colour.  Meanwhile it also reminds me of one of the movies' title: "Terminator" (in that movie, one scene showed the robot repairing its damaged mechanical 'hand'). The belly golden coins are also given more details, and the metal body being added more rusty effect.

Today is a rainy day at my place in Jurong, feeling kind of 'blue'...

Story 24 (Step 5)

"Story 24", Acrylic On Canvas, 122cm x 92cm, Year: 2011.

When come to this stage, I have to remind myself that I need to paint the background colour first before doing the foreground, which makes it easier for me to do overlapping...

So far I am quite happy with the result!

Story 24 (Step 4)

"Story 24", Acrylic On Canvas, 122cm x 92cm, Year: 2011.

Now I have removed the hair, because the hair looked as if it were something extra in the painting...  Besides, I re-created the ear from antenna to trumpet form, at the same time also started to paint a lot of $$$ inside the belly.  Meanwhile, I also input some bronze colour on the background (influenced by last year's furniture painting project), otherwise it might look very plain...

Story 24 (Step 3)

"Story 24", Acrylic On Canvas, 122cm x 92cm, Year: 2011.

Today I spent the whole morning painting the piece of armour (with a lot of hooks) - which I placed it on the left arm, and also started to paint the arm in skin tones. Besides, I also changed the eyes to look to the front instead of looking to the left.

Here and there, I also input some silver colour in the grey armour to make it look more like a metal surface, and added in some dark red colour to create a rusty effect on the metal.

I am in a good mood today!

Story 24 (Step 2)

"Story 24", Acrylic On Canvas, 122cm x 92cm, Year: 2011.

This time I have spent a little bit more time in painting the background – meanwhile also creating some black hollow holes - these are the places where the $$$ come from... At the same time I also draw the outlines for the rest of the structures, and input some $$$ inside the brain ($ brain!).

Story 24 (Step 1)

"Story 24", Acrylic On Canvas, 122cm x 92cm, Year: 2011.

My 8th solo exhibition is just over. Praise the Lord! I have sold out 9 paintings so far...

Right now I am longing for my first-born (don't know boy or girl yet???) to arrive, and also trying to do few pieces of paintings for another mid-year exhibition. As you can see - the above painting is one of my plans for that show – A “man” (actually is half-machine, half-man...) hungry for more $$$!!! The overall effect I want to show people, is a machine turned alive; and technically, I am also hoping that I can use acrylic paints to achieve oil-painting result (as my skin is sensitive to turpentine). Of course, deep down I know it is not easy to do so, but nothing is impossible, right? Only when you try...
